Fire Safety Tips

Portable Outdoor Heaters

As the weather turns cooler, especially in the evenings, many homes and businesses turn to portable outdoor heaters for comfort.  These heaters, which use propane or natural gas, heat the air with an open flame and are just as dangerous as a lighted match.  Keep them away from flammable materials, overhead awnings or flammable liquids, and place them out of traffic areas.  Nothing ruins the evening ambiance as quickly as setting your guests on fire.

Businesses, please note that it is a code violation to use a portable heater under any non-sprinkled overhang.
